Have you seen San Francisco's famous Golden Gate Bridge?

Did you know that Lisbon, Portugal, also has a Golden Gate Bridge?

It is called "Ponte 25 de Abril" (25th of April Bridge). The lower deck carries two train tracks.

Belém Tower is a fortified tower built in the early 16th century on a small island in the Tagus River near the Lisbon shore. It was built from Lioz Limestone, an historical Portuguese natural stone.

Forcing of the Tagus by the French squadron under Rear admiral Roussin on 11 July 1831. The ships sail before Belém Tower.

With all that water around, we might need Giraffe #231's ark.

  1. I really like the image with the carved balustrade. The blue water looks inviting!

Thank you for sharing your Mom's photos.

  2. I thought it was interesting to learn about the Golden Gate Bridge in Lisbon.
And the lower level has a train? wow

I was fascinated to learn about the Lisbon Golden Gate Bridge, too. And the blue water does look inviting. Perhaps we should schedule a trip to see it in person.
