Goodbye Hearts

I found a beautiful picture of Hearts that were going to be made into a necklace.

I decided to take pictures of some of my hearts on some different backgrounds.

I turned the photo to see how it looked.

This is another one I turned.

Back to the first photo. Here's the completed necklace.

And the necklace on a mannequin. At least I hope that's a mannequin.

It's hard to say goodbye to a month full of Hearts, but don't be sad, Giraffe #207. It will be back next year.

A few not-quite leaves: The first is a spathe, a large leaf-like bract that encloses a flower cluster or spadix, as in the jack-in-the-pulpit or calla lily. (If that definition didn't help you figure out what a spathe is, don't feel badly. It didn't help me, either.)

And this one the photographer named Petal of love.

Giraffe #206, are you and your friends eating any Heart leaves?

Color of the Week ~ Scarlet

Scarlet in nature is brilliant. Roses are just one of many examples.

Scarlet birds are equally vibrant. Just be careful of those Macaw beaks.

Not a bird, but I can't miss an opportunity to include my sister's favorite: The dragonfly.

I love the contrast between Scarlet and White, so I grouped these pictures together.

Isn't the Scarlet beak adorable?

A Scarlet heading makes this article about Giraffe #205 really pop.

More Nature's Hearts

Some foods come in Heart shapes: A walnut half, potato, mushroom, tomato. Even a cut cabbage can be a heart.

This amazing Heart-shaped cave was etched by wind and water. It is found in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, in Central Australia.

It took a long time to create the Heart-shaped cave. A casual toss by a young girl and a sweet Heart is found on a mother's bathroom floor.

Giraffe #204, have you or your friends found any Hearts in nature?
