How to Make a Giraffe ~ Continued

The easiest way to make a giraffe?

1 ~ Get a piece of paper.

2 ~ Open your crayon box.

3 ~ Begin coloring.

First graders have this procedure perfected.

Giraffe #110 is a picture a student did for me several years ago. I love having it hanging in my room, because it makes me think of that student and it reminds me that children have so much creativity inside of them just waiting to come out.

Country of the Week: Ecuador

Let's start our visit to Ecuador by sitting at Quinta San Miguel Yahuarcocha. With this beauty, we may never want to leave.

But then we would miss New Muelle Municipal, Babahoyo. I like the tiled roofs and colorful boats. How refreshing it looks.

More boats, here from the city of Bahía de Caráquez.

This golden horse in Santa Rosa, Ecuador, seems to be jumping out of the cannon.

What a a mystical feeling this photo of paragliding in Crucita beach evokes.

Now this picture just makes me laugh. The vicuña seems to be saying, "I'm ready for my photo op whenever you are." In the background is Cihimborazo volcano.

What beautiful foliage in this shot of the rain forest in Tena. Tena is known as the cinnamon capital of Ecuador.

Now for some birds. First, the Blue-crowned Manakin, a species in the Pipridae family. What a beauty he is.

One of my favorites, the toucan.

This little guy looks like he has something to say. Maybe he'll tell us about where he lives at Elizabeth Bay on the island of Isabela, Galapagos.

What better way to end the day than on the beach at Playa de Mompiche. Someday I hope I can visit Ecuador. And I'll be sure to buy some cinnamon.

Giraffe #109 looks like she would love to visit Ecuador, too. I wonder if we'd find any of her relatives?

Color of the Week ~ Greige

Greige is the color of gray and beige combined. It's a perfect backdrop for displaying art.

What a beautiful floor.

Source

Greige certainly makes yellow pop.

A tiled floor in Greige would be lovely.

Ceramic Tileworks

I would like this one, too. Unfortunately this tile has been discontinued.

I love the clean lines of this kitchen.

When I go shopping for food for my kitchen, I can carry my money in this Greige bag. Although by the time I finish paying for the bag, I doubt I'd have any money left to put inside it.

Giraffe #108's ark looks Greige enough for me.

Anna Gets Colorful

I've been enjoying taking pictures with my digital camera for about a year.

Anna's Fujifilm Digital Camera

I've been looking at the work of other photographers, especially photos of colors.

So I've been trying my own hand at color photo projects.

A student's colorful bracelets caught my eye.

I set my students to creating symmetrical designs with pattern blocks.

Of course I had to join in.

Playing with counting bears is fun, too!

Giraffe #107 wants to get in on the act. Pull yourself together!

That's better.

Can you do letters? Of course a smart giraffe like you can.
