Theme-It Thursday

Jessica Hische
is for Ladybug. Remember the ladybug rhyme?

Ladybug!  Ladybug!
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire.
And your children all gone.

All except one,
And that's little Ann,
For she crept under
The frying pan.

I never knew the second verse of that rhyme until now, but I always felt sorry for the poor little ladybugs.

These cake pops are adorable, aren't they? Although they do look like a lot of work.

Ladybug Cake Pops

These would be a bit easier to make. And certainly more healthy. Healthy enough that you could have a ladybug cake pop without feeling guilty!

Lady Bug Crackers

One of my students had this cute umbrella yesterday. How appropriate.

L is for Lemon Bars. One of my favorite desserts ever.

Lemon Bars

L is for Lambs. A symbol of spring and too cute for words.

This little couple are almost too sweet to eat. But I'm sure I could be persuaded to nibble a marshmallow or two.

Lamb Cupcakes

Giraffe #31 has the keys. Maybe he's getting ready to go visit the lambs.

Education on Display

Teacher Lori has displayed the work of her second graders in the courtyard of the school. As I was on duty one day last week I took pictures of some of their work.

There are pictures of antonyms.

Math Problems.

Possessive Pronouns.

Stories about how to be a good student.

And stories about how to be kind.

And we do have very kind students. Fashionable, too.

Giraffe #30 looks very kind. And those spots are very fashionable. For a giraffe.

Rain, Rain, Don't Go Away

At least not rain I can look at or listen to without getting wet.

YouTube

I had no idea you could actually get 8 hours of rain sounds on YouTube. I don't know why I'm surprised, because they have just about anything you could think of there.

I love seeing raindrops making circles as they plop in the water.

I love sheets of rain.

I love seeing individual raindrops.

And isn't this a beautiful shot of rain, with the peach-colored umbrella the focus of the shot?

I haven't found a giraffe umbrella yet, but Giraffe #29 will at least help me keep my belongings dry.

Beauty in Simple Things

I love art. One of my favorite painters is Johannes Vermeer. I became acquainted with Vermeer from reading Girl with the Pearl Earring.

Amazon

What I find so beautiful is the luminous quality of his paintings. The glow of the light is so beautiful.

Girl With a Pearl Earring

He painted interior home scenes of everyday, middle class people.

The Lacemaker

People doing simple things.

The Glass of Wine

The delicate bend of the arm enchants me.

Young Woman with a Water Pitcher

Woman Holding a Balance

I love the richness of the colors, the lights and shadows. Vermeer was truly an amazing artist.

The Geographer

Do you suppose Giraffe #28 is trying to look like the Girl With a Pearl Earring?
